  12. Please read through the following information before using the software on this CD.
  13. You'll find a complete guide to the Cover CD's contents, on the disc pages of the magazine.

  18. This MacFormat Cover CD has been thoroughly tested at all stages of production and certified as "virus free" by an independent organisation. However, we recommend that you always run a virus checker on any new software before running it.

Future Publishing Ltd cannot accept any responsibility for disruption, damage and/or loss to your data or your computer system which may occur whilst using this disc, the programs or the data on it. Please ensure that you have up-to-date backups of the data on your hard drives before running any new software.

  25. Some useful tips to help you get the most from your MacFormat Cover CD
  26.  
  27. • Some of the demos on the CD require installation to your hard disk - they won't run directly from the CD. Many of these programs use an installer; once you've double-clicked on it, just follow the on-screen instructions and you should be fine. You must disable any anti-virus software you have installed, as it may interfere with the installation process.

  29. • The icons we use on the CD help to make it friendly, but they do slow it down slightly. You can install CDIconKiller from the System Add-ons folder in the Resources folder, to speed things up.

  31. • If you have problems quitting any of the demos on the CD, just press [command] Q and you should go back to the Finder. If this doesn't work, hit [command] [option] [escape] to force quit.

  33. • It couldn't be easier to install System Extensions and Control Panels - just drag them over your closed System Folder and your Mac puts them in the right place. Then you simply need to restart.

  35. • Look for the On The CD icon in the magazine - it will point you towards CD contents connected with the feature or review you're reading.

  37. • The Resources folder contains applications, utilities and updaters (including Acrobat Reader, Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator and GraphicConverter) which will help you get the most from the demos and files included on the Cover CD.

  42. If you believe there is a fault with some software on the Cover CD, first double-check that you have followed all the supplied instructions for installing and using it. If you have done so but still have a problem, please call our CD helpline:
